Dwelling by Red Room Productions
13th March 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm£10
Dwelling extends an invitation to hear untold stories between the realms of existence.
Dwelling dares to give voice to the unresolved stories originating between the realms of the living and the dead.
Unleashing the cacophony of untold stories residing within the premises emptied of the living, Dwelling asks why we fail to hear the un-mourned stories of lives pushed to the margins and to consider the consequences of not listening. The performance challenges audiences to contemplate what dwells…evoking personal memories of hauntings and recurring instances.
Dwelling embraces original methods of theatre practice, and story-telling, informed directly through the performer’s interaction with the fabric and memories of Poltimore House, a derelict mansion in Devon.
Combining visually arresting ‘poetic’ images, live performance at the intersection of dance and theatre, film, music, and live vocal-looping. Dwelling engenders strong human emotional connection providing a forum to discuss the unrepresented themes of loss and hauntings.
Discover what inhabits spaces when emptied of the human and what recurs in our collective memory, come and hear stories of loss, longing of the lost!
Running Time: 60 minutes with after-show talk and an invitation for the audience to share their own stories of haunting.
Conceived and directed by Mary Steadman in creative collaboration with performers: Xavier de Santos, Alice Barton, Sofia Velez, Leeza Jessie, Samuel de la Tour and Helen Roberts.
