Wardour Garrison Living History Open Day

£6Come and see how a garrison lived during the English Civil War. Demonstrations of weaponry, crafts and how plants were used for both medicine and food. There will be a talk on the Treaty of Exeter which was signed at Poltimore House thereby ending the hostilities in the South West.

10:30 Camp open to visitors
11:30 Weapons demonstration with musket, pike and cannon followed by skirmish and children’s sword school (if sufficient interest)
13:00 Soldier’s and camp lunch
14:00 Plant walk and talk on medicinal uses – meet outside kitchen tent
15:00 Weapons demonstration with musket, pike and cannon followed by skirmish and children’s sword school (if sufficient interest)
Warning – the demonstrations of musket skirmishes and civil war cannon are loud and so this event may not be suitable for dogs and very young children.
The grounds will be closed to the general public during this weekend.
