Following on from the success of the Sting to String workshop this one will focus on extracting fibres suitable for spinning into yarn which can be used for textiles.

A one day workshop showing how to extract fibres from our native nettle plants so that they can be used for textiles. The method works with freshly harvested nettles.

5. Alternative methods – to ret or not to ret? that is the question.
6. Spinning a good yarn

We will provide all the nettles but if you have a suitable pair of gardening gloves it is a good idea to bring them. The ground may be uneven and so please wear suitable footware. Long sleeves and trousers are recommended. An old credit card or hard plastic store card is useful for the filleting stage.
